I have 2 pugs. When they sit on the porch the male (neutered) licks the females (spayed) head to the point of her annoyance. I can't figure out what this behavior is about? Is it protection? Submissive? Comfort? She's certainly not dirty so that's not it. Any ideas??
A lot of animals do that! Dogs, Cats, Rabbits .. it's a sign of affection
Mine like to lick each other's eyeballs ... we always assumed they were being affectionate.
That is him giving her a kiss on her forehead because he cares about her.
Because he's probably trying to clean her face.
