ok so i want to get a malamute in the future they are beautiful dogs. people have recommended me a malamute over a husky because they are naturally better behaved dogs. can you give me so info on their general personality and just some good things to know about them including prices, temperment and etc?
I grew up with a malamute named Nikita. we lived in a cold environment and she was an outdoor dog. She would pull all three kids in a sleigh in the winter and once an intruder came to steal a bike from the shed ... and she just wanted to play with him and let him ride off with my dad's bike. lol So, NOT a guard dog, but great with kids in my experience.
I think malamutes are beautiful BIG dogs that need an owner that can keep up with them. All snow dogs love to RUN and will keep their eyes on the horizon until they get there ... which is never! So make sure you have a yard with a fence that will keep him in. If you have the natural ability to be the leader a dog of that size, then you will have a well behaved malamute. good luck!
