I was reading questions in the Pets-Dogs section of Y/A on re-homing dogs at 6 weeks and some of the answers mentioned it would be a BYB .. What does that mean?
It means Back Yard Breeder.
Meaning a person who breeds dogs at home, with little to no training, usually either to turn a profit.
It is used here almost exclusively as a derogatory term, since these people generally do not know how to and DO not take proper care of the puppies. They also aren't bettering the breeding by choosing wisely which dogs to breed.
Folks are very passionate here about how bad BYB's are, so get ready for some VERY expressive answers.
Byb stands for Back yard Breeder meaning that it is not a regular breeder with standards and pedigree it means someone is doing it for money and they have no credentials to do so. \
