What do you think of line breeding?

I breed chuggles and my mentor told me about linebreeding. It made sense to me so I decided that I was going to give it a try and I bred one of my bitches to her grandfather because he is a perfect example of the breed and I want to maintain his traits. I'm trying to sell the puppies now though and people keep leaving when they find out about the breeding. How can I explain to them about the benefits of linebreeding. Should I ask my mentor to help?
I would not bother explaining.

Obviously the proof is in the pudding.

If they can not see the excellent quality of your Chuggles then honestly they just do not deserve to have one.
You maintain the traits through the dog you breed not through the grandparents.

You breed the one that is the best and has the best qualities to another one from another family not through it's family.

That is in breeding and you can cause some serious problems with the dog or the puppies may all die.

You never breed with the same breeds of the same family ever.

Your mentor is not right and I hope others tell you also.
There are no benefits in line breeding. Least of all in a hybrid dog. Well you call it a hybrid. Years ago they were known a Heinz 57 or mongrels when two dogs from different breeds got together.

How to do seriously think you can line breed a cross breed and hope to achieve anything.

Of course people will run a mile on looking a the line history. Every single hereditary genetic condition will surface even if hidden in recent animals.

Bet you have never tested eyes, hips elbows or blood in any of your mutts before breeding have you? Back yard breeders never do!

Are you aware of the what the actual genetic risks are with incest, think about the risks involved on the health of your child if you had sex with your grandfather?
Line breeding mutts isn't line breeding, it's propagating the breeding of mutts.

Line breeding with purebred dogs is accetable.

The problem is that the only people that would buy your mutts are uneducated, and they aren't going to know the difference between line breeding, out crossing or in breeding. And they are probably thinking inbreeding. Give the pups away and alter your animals .
If I may ask what in the world is a chuggle, You are a BYBer, that breeds mutts on purpose for money. You are one of the people that is giving all reputable breeders bad names. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

When it come to breeding mutts you need no mentor and it does not matter what and who you breed your bitches to. A mutt is a mutt no matter what fancy name you stick on it.
You do not breed dogs with their family members because the same applies to them as to all mammals, inbreeding causes serious health problems and disabilities, there are NO benefits to linebreeding.Your mentor sounds dodgy to me and the last person you should be talking to about breeding as he doesn't seem to recognise the aforementioned health problems associated with INBREEDING.
I fail to see how a mutt is a "perfect example of the breed" when its not a breed to begin with.

Linebreeding .. well ALL BREEDING, should be left to professionals how have CH/working titled PUREBRED dogs who are breeding for quality PUREBREDS .. not mongrels to fill shelters with.,
Oh My goodness ... I'm a breeder of full blooded Porkies. Soon going to start breeding Silverbacks.

My Porkies are a perfect example of that breed too ... half pig ... half yorkie .... split evenly down the line 50% 50 %.... pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

I dont understand how ignorant people on Y/A sometimes are .... I mean, EVERYONE knows that genetics IS NOT RANDOM ... and when you breed two crappy dogs of different breeds ... YOU GET THE BEST OF THOSE BREEDS. .. WITH SPECIFIC, CHOSEN TRAITS .... DUH ???!!!!
That leads to genetic defects. And would you want to be bred to your grandfather? Thats gross. And no it's not "linebreeding" it's inbreeding! Plus chuggles are a "hybrid" so you should really only breed 1st generation. Poor puppies.

I am the famous breeder of Silverback Morkies!!! I have successfully bred gorillas to Morkies!

To answer your question ... I like breeding stuff ... that is all.
"Because he is a perfect example of the breed" Mutts aren't a breed.

Pamela something tells me its a Chihuahua/Beagle/Pug mix.
I echo what has been said here already - what on earth is a Chuggles. It's certainly not A BREED!!! And as such, it matters not one jot whether you are 'line breeding' or not. Your ****** has no line per se. And I have no idea what a perfect example of the 'breed' (what breed!!?) might be.

There is nothing wrong with line breeding, and frankly granddaughter to grandfather has long been a perfectly acceptable form of line breeding. Obviously, and I'm talking PUREBRED DOGS here, the most extreme form of line-breeding, eg son to mother, father to daughter and brother to sister, (which has now been outlawed by the UK KC because they won't accept registration application for litters of this close breeding) is not a great idea, much as long-standing knowledgeable breeders who knew, first hand , all the dogs behind what they had, often did these close matings.
