I am definetely feeding my large breed dog this large breed high protien food. I have a 5 month old Presa Canario male and will be receiving a 8 to 9 week old Boerboel female puppy Dec 4rth. I used to be heavy into weight lifting and am fairly knowledgable about how protien and nutrients can effect the body. I fully understand that nutrients effect human and canine diets differently. However, I beleive the people who claim that a high protien diet such as the one provided by Orijen puppy formula leads to skelatal disorders or hip displasia in large breed dogs are complete bufoons. The reason I am mad at these people is they led me in the wrong direction when I was researching for my large breed puppies. I know the best diet is a well balanced raw diet. However , if you were going to pick a dry dog food that will be the most healthy and support growing the most it would be the Orijen puppy or grain free high protien high quality adult dog foods. The growth spurts refered to by people crying wolf about the high protien puppy food is caused by foods supplying excess carbs. Even an amatuer like myself knows protien would not hurt the body of a dog in that type of way. There are no studies proving high protien can have these effects. Just look at how the species of Brown Bears living in the food rich environments grow much larger then the bears living in not as bountiful environments. The food and diet you feed your dog as a puppy can have a moderately signifigant effect on its size. As an adult dog you can manipulate the fat and muscle content thru diet which allows you to also build some size and also ensure healthiness. Its just older people who are unreceptive to change and innovations who are closed minded. Its these same people who are responsible for the collapse of the economy . Simply because they beleived something was true for so long they convinced themselves it was true and would listen to nothing that would prove them wrong. Note: Please excuse my spelling spell check has ruined me.
Uh, what's your question? This looks like nothing more than a rant to me ....
question is ...?
uhhh is there a question in there some where?
So the vets at Wellness are 'complete bufoons' when discussing their high protein CORE line?
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com http://www.wellnesspetfood .com/product-d ... and the vets at EVO, with respect to their high protein "Red Meat" line?
http://www.evopet.com/tools/faqs.asp?vie ... and this vet?
http://www.newmanveterinary.com/large.ht ... and this vet?
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm? ... So you read the Orijen White Paper, and you came away a true believer, buzzin on the kool-aid.
Orijen's a good food, but their white paper exists to try to convince people to buy their food. It is marketing.
PS - if you're gonna go around calling people "bufoons" ... it would probably be best to spell "buffoon" correctly ... so you don't look like as much of one yourself.
Orijen is manufactured in Morrinville Alberta, Canada not to far from where I live so I would like to support them.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com But I have a friend that has been breeding dogs for 35 years and she switched to Orijen for her dogs she then had 3 pyrometra's and it wiped out her breeding program. She had never had one pyrometra before and now she stopped feeding Orijen she has not had any more.
Now I understand the Orijen is cooked at a lower temp so I would guess that could maybe be a problem?
Now I have no proof but just saying, has anyone else had these problems maybe Orijen has a problem with it?
One question is I believe dogs are not just meat eaters and they do just fine on a diet that is not all meat.
So Bro, how do you really feel .....
Seriously, you are right and a lot of the folks that yell and beotch
the loudest are the ones that still think Iam is good and probably
have some old school Kennel Ration or Gainburgers laying around
the house. Big money in upscale puppy and dog food, you have to think
these folks to the research and have a clue, more than granny and
