Is my puppy sick (really worried)?

Im still a little in shock my sixth month old puppy (westie) was playing with his pillow in the sitting room and then i heard loud breathing so i went in and he looked to be choking but he wasn't eating anything he was breathing quickly through his nose and it made a snorting sound he was also shaking slightly it was as though he were trying to catch his breath i made sure he wasn't choking and picked him up rubbing his chest i brought him to his water bowl and waited until he drank i then picked him up and listened to his breathing and heart his heart was fast but not extremely and his breathing was ok he started doing what he had again 2 mins later and i did my best to stop it by rubbing his chest it happened again once or twice while he was sniffing but it has stopped for the minute and he has started to eat and sniff around like he was doing before all this happened this has all happened just in the last 10 mins or so and im home alone and no vets are open i don't know what to do im really worried i really love him was he maybe going to vomit? or did he just lose his breath? or is it something else? he is a healthy pup so this was very random. thanks in advance.
sounds like what you witnessed was an episode of "reverse sneezing". it has nothing to do with sneezing but is actually a reaction to an irritation of the soft palate. small dogs are particularly predisposed to it, and many live with it their entire lives with no adverse health problems. 2 of my dogs do it now and again. ofc having not witnessed the attack it is impossible to diagnose. i can only say what it sounds like to me. if it begins to happen regulary there may be reason to visit the vet as it may be caused by polyps, excessive soft palate tissue or allergies to dust/mites. a lot of dogs have no identifiable cause and its just one of those things. by all means visit the vet if you are still worried.
he could have chocked on a part of the pillow such as tassels, beads etc.

He could have lost his breath, we've had a pug for years and she used to do that, we took her to the vet, turns out she has asthma so when she gets excited it sounds like shes choking and snorting.
Did he swallow any of the stuffing from his pillow? Any small amount can get lodged in his airway and you will not be able to see it. The best advice is to try and find a 24 hr animal emergency clinic. They will be able to listen and take an x-ray of his throat. Wish I could be of more help.
There is no way we can give you a diagnosis, but it sounds serious enough for a trip to the vet. Its possible he may have swallowed something when he was playing with his pillow, could have gone partly down but is now stuck and needs to come out.
Does he whimper or cringe when you pick him up or touch his stomach? If so, he may have gas . Most areas have emergency animal hospitals.
chillax kid 4 a min my dogs an idiot (loveable 1 tho) nd does this kinda stuff too r yeh sure he just didnt get excited and um ... inhale the pillow a bit or get something up his nose??
Call an emergency vet and tell them what happened.

i gave her water, she was really thirsty. could be the cauese.
Always check with your vet but it sounds like what is know as a "reverse sneeze" and is very common and nothing to worry about (although it freaks everybody out the first time you hear it) in short nosed dogs like pugs, staffies and bulldogs (breeding issue). It can usuall be stopped by plugging their nose and having them breath through their mouth for just a second or two. I just found what looks like a site explaining it complete with video
