My parents have adopted a Jack Russel Terrier who likes to run off whenever he sees the front door open. He is micro-chipped, but the information on it is still the old owner's information. How do we update his microchip with our current information?
Take him to the vet, have them scan the chip. They call the main chip companies and find out which has the basic documentation on the dog. YOU then take the phone number and call them to update the information. That's how it works.
What brand is it?
You'd need the paperwork from the original owner for Avid.
For Home Again, I think you just go on their website and enroll. I enrolled my dog's Avid chip on in HomeAgain's system on their website with no problem.
