We ran out of her reg.
People shampoo isn't the best for dog's because it takes away too many oils from the dog's coat and skin. Dogs can't replace these oils like people can and it can result in very irritated skin.
According to the American Kennel Club, dog shampoos "are formulated to clean and condition the dog's more alkaline skin and hair."
HOWEVER, the AKC says that a baby shampoo or coconut-oil shampoo would be OK occasionally.
The AKC also recommends that you do not bathe your dog unless he is obviously dirty or smelly.
Over-bathing can be damaging to your dog's coat and skin.
If you choose to do this, pick the shampoo with the least amount of fragrance and other FRU FRU junk AND dilute it with 50% water and mix it up before it ever touches your dogs skin.
Do not get into the habit of using it. You will not see the effects the first or 4th time you use human shampoo on your dog, but there will be long term issues if you use it exclusively.
Yes, any mild shampoo will work for a "one time use" but I wouldn't get into a habit of it. It's usually a good idea to use a baby shampoo or a dog shampoo. It's hard not to get it in their eyes so avoid washing their head and take really special care to rinse thoroughly. don't use a shampoo that is designed for "special hair" as it may have chemicals in it that are designed specifically to stick to the hair. Dog shampoos habitually are designed with a higher PH level so they rinse cleaner. They're pretty cheap but don't fall for any of the freakin 'Hartz Flea shampoo line. Citrus based shampoos will help (key word there is "help") with flea control if used regularly and left on the dog for 10 min before rinsing, oatmeal based shampoos are good for skin and coat etc. Stop by a groomers shop. They would probably love to give you the education.
I give my dog a bath with head and shoulders dandruff shampoo/conditioner and his skin is still annoyingly oily hah. Idk much about Suave but I think it's a gentle shampoo? I'd say go for it. Shouldn't really make that much of a difference. Dogs are tough.
yes you can it might not clean as well as dog shampoo but it doesnt harm them or anything .... sometimes i take my dogin the shower with me and wash him with suave dove or whatever i use.hhheeee loves it ... cuz his hair is really soft:)
no they need special shampoo (dog shampoo) suave will just make their skin dry and cause some rash or something.
