golden retrievers on treadmill?

hi i thinking of gettin a golden retriever puppy but in the winter it will be hard to walk it, so instead can i put it on a treadmill, if so how long and what speed, should he run or walk.
Don ' t put the dog on a treadmill.

Going for a walk isn't just about walking, dog's love the smells and area and need to do their "business".

Even if you walk to the bottom of the road, it's better than being indoors on a treadmill. Surely the winter can't be that bad that you can't take him a few feet outside.
You can ABSOLUTELY put a dog on a treadmill. While you do it you stay in front or to the side, with a good grip on the leash, and be ready to step in and grab her if anything goes wrong. But it's not like the Dog Whisperer. You can ' t just throw her on there, start it up, and have her know what to do. She will initially probably be thrown off by the beeping sounds and whirr of the motor. Also probably won't like the feeling of the belt moving beneath her without her being in control. It will take some time for her to understand the concept that she doesn't walk while the ground stays still, the ground moves and she has to figure out how to move her legs in the proper rhythm to stay in place.

INTRODUCE her to it, let her sit in the room while YOU use it several times so she gets desensitized to all the wierd sounds it makes. Often times when they watch the human do it enough they get curious about it and want to see what it's all about. Use treats and praise to coax her to stand on it voluntarily. And don't just start her off at a fast trot, the first time you put it on you might want to do .01 mph and let the belt move at a snails pace while she figures out the whole concept. Increase speed gradually once she shows she can walk on it properly, but I would never move her beyond a quick trot.
Please don't put the dog on a treadmill, are you serious!

this could really hurt the dog, it could break its legs or frighten it to death,

Put on a coat & use an umbrella & take the dog outside, you can even buy coats for dogs!

Responsible pet ownership involves making sure your animal gets outside everyday, rain hail or shine, not just when the weather is good in summer, how would you feel if you were stuck inside everyday, you'd get pretty sad after awhile & so will your dog, pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

If you absolutely hate the idea of taking it for a walk when its cold then don't get a dog, get a bird or something that doesn't need to go outside!
You can actually buy dog-powered treadmills. But you can also just keep it it a very, very low speed and let the dog walk on it. Not many dogs really take to treads, a lot are scared of the noise.
