In a way yes.
They only come twice a year and are called heats, start at about the age of 6mos, and do not happen if the dog is spayed.
The female dog has a lengthy menstruation cycle, unlike that of humans. The female dog goes through four main stages of a cycle called estrous, commonly referred to as "heat," which lasts approximately 7 months.
Stage 1
Pro-estrus lasts approximately 9 days and is the first stage of the cycle marked by a bloody discharge from the vulva. The female dog will have no interest in mating with a male dog during the beginning stage of proestrus.

The estrus stage that lasts approximately 7 days; within those days the female dog allows mating. Ovulation occurs during estrus, typically around the second day of estrus. The behavioral signs of estrous are seen by the female putting her raised tail to the side.
Stage 3
Diestrus is marked by the female no longer allowing mating, the diestrus stage lasts for approximately 60 days If the female did become pregnant in the estrus phase she will carry her litter during this phase, gestation is typically around 63 days.
Stage 4
Anestrus is the dormancy period that lasts approximately five months. This stage is then followed by proestrus and the entire cycle is repeated again.
I am not aware of doggie tampoons. I would doubt very much if your dog would allow her being subjected to this. There is no doubt in my mind that she would at the first chance remove it.
I hope that I have been of some help to you and your dog.

Well they have diapers for dogs .. but we usually kept our bítch indoors, she had a large beach towel near the fire that she'd sleep on most of the time. (And she wasn't fixed because she was my parent's dog, I was still in a kid in school.)
A dog does not menstruate. They have a heat cycle. The biological processes are completely different.
Expect to confine her 2-3 weeks to be on the safe side and avoid accidental pregnancies.
Yes and it's every 6 months. You can shower her whenever you see her fur is dirty.
