Puppies for adoption/small fee?
My aunt is looking for a small lap dog for her daughter and son (both 14)
She would prefer a chiuhuaha, pug, yorkie or chug (chiuhahua & pug mix) but would be willing to take any puppy that wouldn't get any bigger than 10 lbs.
We have searched our local pound and haven't found a dog small enough yet , so she was wondering if anyone knew someone with small puppies for $ 100 or less.
Please don't tell me that I should just go an adopt one because like I said before we haven't found any small dogs and her apartment won't let her have 2 big dogs (she has a doberman/dalmation mix already)
Thanks in advance:)
answer: My first advice would be to save up a bit more so she can buy something worth having, in terms of health especially. You get what you pay for!! and buying cheap could land her with a load of vet bills. Secondly I think under 10 lbs is too small, especially to have around kids, and a bigger dog. Surely there would be a small to medium size dog in a Shelter which would fit - even if it means waiting. And it's always worth considering having to travel , to get the right dog imho. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
It does occur to me that if she were to decide on a specific breed (please tell her NOT to buy into a mix-breed scam), she might find a breeder with a slightly older dog who has been retired from her breeding programme, and would be only to happy to have him/her into a good pet home - for not much money.
Adoption fees can range from as little as $ 50 to sometimes as much as $ 500. Both larger adoption groups, and smaller rescues must cover their expenses to take care of the animals, before people like you adopt them. (As a comparison, breeders and pet stores usually charge much higher fees for their pets. Pure bred puppies, as an example, commonly range well above $ 500 and can be priced above $ 1,000 or even $ 2,000 and higher.

if i were her i would keep checking the pound. the dogs there probably changes completely on a weekly basis. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
and yes, petfinder will absolutely have a dog for her. it probably won't be under $ 100 and it probably won't be local but it's worth the effort.
Try finding a rescue for one of the breeds you are looking for. I don't think you will find one for under $ 100.00 but you can try and see what you can find .
Chugs aren't a breed ....
Look into your local shelters. They have dogs there too. You don't need a purebred. She doesn ' t need a teeny tiny dog. A dog under 30lbs should be good enough.
Have her look at Petfinder.
i'd be shocked if there isnt a small dog on there that needs a home.
