Strays in the los angeles, CA know of a rescue?
I AM PUTTING THIS HERE BECAUSE I FEEL THAT THE CAT SECTION GETS LESS ATTENTION
so don't report!
Cat strays in the los angeles area, RESCUE?
around where i live there is a bunch of cats and kittens actually a whole litter that was just born maybe 8 weeks or less but they are wandering around and they hide in a hole a lady gives them food all the time. I don't want to call animal control because then maybe there life will be cut short.

I saw this Q in the cat section but it took me a while to remember the name
http://www.straycatalliance . org/ These people seem really wonderful, I'm sure if they can't help they can direct you to someone that can. Good luck!
COUNTY shelters are likely to just kill them.
http://www.straycatalliance.org/ works with ferals all the time, they won't allow that if they can help.

These cats will be considered feral and unless a foster home is available they will be put down at county. They don't usually have the time/resources to tame feral cats and as is they're not adoptable.

Provided you're in the city, LA Animal Control will take the animals to the shelter. It is a high-kill shelter, unfortunately. They will NOT immediately destroy the animals, and they will have a chance at being adopted.

Have you talked to the lady who gives them food? Are they hers? I know there are a few small-budget rescues in the area who get feral cats spayed and neutered when they can. Is she maybe one of these?
ETA: just to say that the other commenter is probably right re: the feral cat thing. I'm more knowledgable about dogs.
ETA2: If you care this much about them, please just talk to the lady. For one, you're gonna traumatize her if the disappear. It's not free to get them spayed, but some rescues pay for it as a means of population control.
Please just talk to the lady, say you're concerned, and you're thinking about contacting a rescue to get them into a better situation. Maybe she's on top of it. Cat people ARE weird but are usually very nice and kindhearted.

Look up cat rescue in LA County on the internet. Here in San Diego it is Helen Woodward. I also used to get traps from the SD ASPCA. I rescued them. The feral strays were euthanized but the tamed kitties had clean eyes and vet checks and they were pleased to get them.

Your totally right not to call Local animal controll they euthnize 70% of all cats and 50% of all dogs that enter the shelters not b/c they are sick but simply b/c their are not enough people adopting and theres not alot of money. You should look in this organization called .... Ally Cat Allies .. they have a trap neuter return program and they have locations everywhere they do help alot ferel cats who would other wise be put down. You could also try some no-kill shelters like the SPCA, American Humane Society, North Shore Animal Legue. If you do talk to the lady make sure you tell her not to call Local animal controll either you never know about some people. Good Luck and your doing a really nice thing!
