hello hammy lovers:)
ive grown up owning hamsters:) and i had a hammy in june (shes so adorable) theres no problem with her its just ............
my boyfriend had a hamster a couple of days ago aswell (shes adorable too) and i am aware they are not allowed to live together, but is it okay if they can meet each other?
(Im also aware of not putting them in one anothers cages, cos of territory etc)
they are both lovely hamsters, just wondering if i can put them in the pen together?
xxxxx
It's really not best to introduce territorial, solitary animals, because they will most likely just fight. The most you can do is have them in hamster balls near each other, but beyond that, it's best to keep them apart.
Female hamsters can be especially territorial, so it's even more risky in this case.
Honestly it is not a ggod idea. Hamsters are very territiorial, even putting them in a play pen together could start them off fighting, and when hamsters start to fight it is very hard to stop them, my 2 gerbils fought and i went to seperate them, and the male bit my finger and din't let go, and their was blood pouring and i now have 2 scars from where his teeth were imbedded in me.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com So it isn't recommended to put them in the pen together.
If you put their cages side by side for a few days, they can get used to each other, and you can introduce them. Just don't leave them alone at all or they can quickly get injured. Be prepared to stop the fighting if it begins.
Also if they become good friends ... you can put their cages side by side. And have them live that way .. they can't fight behind bars or have territory issues in that way.
It is advised by most pet experts/shops that hamsters that are not from the same litter cannot be introduced to each other otherwise they would fight. This can happen even if only introduced for even 5 seconds. So ,.... maybe not.
If they are both boy hamsters, it's fine. If they are both females, they might fight. If one is male and one is female, they might mate and that would be REALLY bad because you don't want hamster babies.
as long as they don't fight yes you can do that
it's nice that you have found a play date for your hamster
Ok my sugestion is to let them meet with a clear bearer between them. Then if no fights occur try it out. if fights do occur abndon the idea.
What type of hamsters are they?
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com IF There Syrian id definitely say no cause they can get very aggressive meeting other hamsters and even kill one another.
Sure, but if they start fighting separate them
