I have 2 gerbils (Oreo and Hercules) and I want Oreo to breed with my cousins teddy bear hamster (Caramel) I don't want one of them to die but I badly want babies.
PleaseHelp,
Hi, It is physically impossible to breed hamsters with Gerbils. If you want babies so bad, then buy a female gerbil and do split cage introduction, Then get those two together to have babies, but that means separating ur existing males from each other, as they cant be put back together once separated.
Or you could buy a breeding pair from someone, and breed the two together. But make sure that u have done all the revision possible on how to breed them, as it is a very tricky thing to do, and takes a lot of care, and to know how to take care of sick/deformed pups. and there is a possible chance that the pups may die, if the mother rejects them.
Also know that u have to keep the father with the mother for the first litter and he can help go through the birthing process. All the knowledge that u need can be found on the internet, so just google. "Breeding gerbils" or " ; birthing process of gerbils ".
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Hope i helped, owner of many gerbils, A new litter of boys, and a great pair of breeding gerbils.I also own hamsters, degu's, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs. And will soon be breeding mice.
Good luck, with what you decide to do.
No, you can't breed a gerbil with a hamster. It's impossible. There would be no babies. It's like trying to breed a cat with a dog, there would be no babies.
Also, I reccomend not putting hamsters and gerbils together, as they would fight. Hamsters like being alone and it could badly injure or even kill the gerbil.
