my rat is old, hes about three and a half. i noticed today that his skin which is typicly a nice cute light pink has masses of orange splotches. I keep an eye on his skin because he had tics about a month ago and i used a natural herb shampoo to get rid. today i gave him a bath in baby shampoo hoping it would get rid of the orange. but no, it is in his skin. should i be concerned? any info appreciated.
male rats tend to get whats known as buck grease. looks like orange flaky skin. my first rat kenai had loads of it, but my other rat koda hardly had any
Buck grease can accumulate on his skin, which makes it a orange flaky type substance . Nothing to be worried about. I've had this problem before. But if the females have it, that isn't normal. Males are perfectly normal to have buck grease. Hope this helps!=)
It's nothing to be concerned about. It's just staining from when he cleans himself.
