I want to get hamsters or mice for me and my girls. My girls are young, but I will be the one taking care of the animals, so thats okay. I have had hamster before, and it is my experience that they bite. Do mice bite as much as hamsters? Any advice is helpful.
Anything with teeth can bite. You can reduce the chances of getting a biting pet by going to a reputable breeder who handles the animals from an early age. My Syrian hamster has never bitten me. Mice are smellier, smaller, quicker, faster and harder to handle. In my experience they don't tolerate handling as well as hamsters. They are more likely to flee than bite but they are very fast and agile and therefore easy to lose. I would say hamsters, or a pair of pet rats. Rats are much more work but they are also far more intelligent, love being handled, seldom bite and all-round make MUCH better pets.
If it's a choice between a hamster or a mouse for small children, go with the hamster. A hamster that's been properly handled will not, or will seldom, bite, and are easier for children to handle. Mice are very fast and harder to handle, even for adults .
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com If you haven't considered a pet rat, however, you might want to look into it. They are intelligent, can learn "tricks", and actually enjoy the prospect of being handled as they're very curious and require mental stimulation. As someone once told me on why rats neither require nor use wheels in their cage: "A hamster runs for the sake of running, a rat runs to get somewhere".
Get you and your girls hamsters. Just remember that don 't put 2 different types of hamsters in the same cage they will fight til death. Get a teddy bear, Black bear, Or syrian hamster those are very nice. But remember that most anything with teeth it will bite. Just if you get a hamster let it sniff all of you guys finger and wait 2 days until you hold it. Give the hamster time to adjust to his home.
well ive never owned mice, but frrom what ive heard they can smell quite a bit. not sure how true that is. honestly you should get rats. they are really sweet, are pretty easy to tame (best to get them off a breeder), they dont bite, can be taught tricks, dont smell (clean the cage often enough) and can get on with other pets like cats and dogs

1st of all mice bit way more and if the hamster is messed with alot it will get ues to you holding hem
2ed of all hamser is cuer and good with kids if reads right i had my 1st one when i was 7 lol i loved them
Guinea pigs are much easier, they recognize you, they don't bite
and they are more playful
both of them do bite at times but mice they'll bite if theyre afraid at first but then they'll stop bitting
I think hamsters are better as they are cuter than a mouse.
always wash you hand before touching them and get rid of any smells on your hands you will be less likely to get bit
