My hamster Luke was very old (two years 11 months) and he recently died. Does anybody have any ideas for ways to remember him? He is buried in my back garden. RIP
Grief takes time. A family pet has as much meaning to an individual because of the "bond" that's created to the pet. Love is love and when love is lost, it's a "process" to get through. There is no sure fire way to just * snap out of it * if you wanted to.
Grieving is a process. It takes time. Best thing for your mind is to remove things that remind you of your pet hamster until you feel better about things. Having constant reminders around you doesn't do you an favors.
Also, busy yourself. If your body is in motion then your mind will not "dwell" on the loss. Do what you can around the house. Be helpful. And when you are ready, you'll be thinking about having another pet . Take the time to be sad and know it's okay.
well,
Luke probaby wanted you to be happy after he died.
i dont think Luke wouldve wanted you to be all sad and depressed.

See, Luke probably loved you very much for cleaning his poop, pee, food water etc.
He'll always love you, even from above, and Luke seeing you right now it breaking his little hammy heart.
And you wouldnt want to break his heart would you?
So be happy.
He wouldve wanted you to e.:)
good luck.:)
You just have to grieve for the hamster and let go, remember him now and again but you have to move on. Everything dies in this world, people, pets, dreams. The sooner you learn to cope the better really.
Edit: Its best if you want to add a comment for everyone to see to do this by clicking the "edit" button on your question and adding additional information there rather than using a second account, most people don't bother to scroll down through all the answers so won't see your kind words.
I understand your loss. I know how animals can be such a great companions. I suggest you read a book about how to cope with the loss of a pet:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Goodbye-Dear-Fri ... On the cover you can see a dog and a cat but I am pretty sure it applies for all pets. When my cat died in February I was devastated too. Animals rule!!

I don't want to sound insensitive but be sure he is buried deep otherwise wild animals will dig him up. I heard that has happened before.
