hi well basically today i noticed my hamster has something pointed and sharp sticking up from inside her chest between her two front legs. she doesnt seem to be messing with it so i dont know if it is hurting but also i think she may be a little under weight as i can feel her spine and rib cage. i feed her everyday and there is leftovers and there is always water available and i feed her bits of veg every so often so i am not under feeding her so i am worried that maybe this sharp object is obstructing her from eating and drinking properly?? she is almost 3 years old, also her skin doesnt snap back when little pinched so things arent sounding to good at the moment. it probably sounds like i havent been looking after her but i really have, i love her to bits and i let her in her ball everyday and i feed her and keep her water refilled everyday and she has been completely fine up until now ... i feel really sorry for her, i just really need to know what this pointed thing is in her chest, it is very freaky and it must hurt, please help.
If you have the money then take her to the vet. He'll probably just examine her for a few minutes and tell you what's wrong, it won't be hard. And not to upset you, but if your hamster is almost 3 years old then it's nearing the end of its life. Probably she is old and just doesn't eat or drink as much as she used to and therefore she is getting skinnier.
ya i had a hamster and that happened and it turned out to be something stuck in her throat. i took her to the vet and they actually looked at her eventhough she was so samll but they fixed it and now she is very happy.
Do you know anyone else with a hamster? If so, try asking them about vets. Some are specialized in small animals. 3 is pretty old for a hamster .... she might just be starting to show her age.

It's not normal to have this .. take her to the vet and it will get sorted
Take her to a vet .
she will be losing weight due to old age so if you just keep her food toped up all day everyday then that will be fine look at the sharp pointy thing is it under her skin or a forgen object outside her skin if a forgen object she need to go to the vets to have it removed as it could cause infection, is it is under her skin it could very well be her chest bone if she is reaky under weight but if you have food avaliable for her all the tiime and she is still that underweight then she may very well be dieing due to old age. if she is underwweight and the object is her chest bone you need to consider maby poutting her to sleep, if she still potters around like normal like goes in her wheel/ball an runs around ect then i think it would be best to just make her comfey and live life to the full untill she dies if she is having difficulty moving around sleeps almost all day and night and doesnt do alot at all she would be classed a suffering and so you would proberly be best puttin gher to sleep it doesnt cost much. it cost me £ 10 to have amouse but to sleep as it had a sarcouide (not sure if i spelt it right but its a tumor that grows very fast)
