i have the smartest rat in the world living under our deck. it literally TOOK our mouse trap into its nest and sets off the humane trap from the side i even allowed both of our dogs (german shepard and dalmation) in the screen room over night and the next day they had scratches on there nose.i cant afford an exterminator right now and suggestions

Wait for it in the room overnight and catch it in a box or a container of some sort. Just keep very still and put some food in the container. When it wanders in, block the open part of the container and release it outside. That's how I caught all mice and rats. Sounds simple and it's very time consuming, but I think it's worth a try.
