Kk so I posted a question earlier and someone suggested it could be ringtail. My rat has a scab in a ring near the tip of her tail, it looks a bit raw almost like she got it caught in something. I was told to just watch it clean it and try to prevent infection. Though someone suggested it might be ringtail, I've been trying to find pictures to compare it to, just to make sure its not but all I keep getting is pictures of ringtailed leamures.
Can anyone direct me to a site that shows ringtail on a rat and has info on it?
Google ring tail on rat. You need to increase the humidity in your room above 20% and rub olive oil on the tail 2xs a day . It should get better. Its caused by either low humidity, the type of bedding you're using (corn cob litter), or a diet lacking fatty acids. I, myself, have never had this problem because of where I live. In the winter the air gets very dry from the heater so its advised you use a humidifier anyways during the cold months.
