I just put my cavy in her new extra large cage. She's queaking and bucking about running too and fro. Is this a sign of happiness? Also is it necessary to put bedding in her cage or can I just use newspapers?
That means it's liking it. They move most when excited, and are noisiest when they want people to see that they're happy.
For the bedding, don't use newspaper. It will form hard blocks the second it gets wet and is nearly poisonous if eaten. Use either wood chips that are SAFE for guinea pigs, or use paper bedding. I always used the paper beddings because they last longest, or I would use fleece covering up newspapers or other absorbent materials.
Yes this is good. The cavy is happy. Aspen bedding works best changing it twice a week and freshening every day. Provide hay and pellets and dark leafy greens.
Yes if shes squeaking then she is really happy and you definitely need bedding for cavies but dont puit wood shavings ur suppose to put recycled paper beddings that you can purchase at the store
