How can I stop my Guinea Pig from hiding?

SO, Ive had my guinea pig for about two weeks now. Ive started holding it and petting it. But, im not sure if he's happy. I feel like he's just sitting in my arms because he HAS to, not cause he likes it. He doesnt even purr. HOw do I know if he's happy. Im doing everything I can. Im petting him and holding him. I dont wanna leave him alone aaall the time. When I give him floor time, he just runs away and hides. He doesnt come near me. He sits away in the corner of the cage when I try to hold him. He's still scared. Even though Ive held him so many times and havent done anything to him. I cant leave him in his hiding spot. He might poop everywhere.>.
HOw do I get him to trust me??=[
Try the towel trick, it is a tried and true way to calm a guinea pig, however, you do have to give it about 2 weeks. Go to my You Tube site and view The Towel Trick.

Wrap your guinea pig in a towel and lie in on your chest while you are watching TV, reading a book and listening to music. Set it in your lap while you are on the computer, my Miya loves the sound of the keyboard and purrs to i!! Carry it around with you as you do your day, guinea pig adore doing your day with you. Talk softly to the guinea pig and pet the towel thus petting the guinea pig through the towel.

After about 2 weeks of doing this for 1 hours a day you should have a very calm guinea pig that will be happy to see you come into the room. At this point you may not need to use the towel any longer, however, some guinea pig do get attached to their towel as my Miya did.
Honestly it just takes time. Both my guinea pigs were scared of me when I first got them, but after a few months of petting them, and feeding the veggies that they liked everyday they started getting used to me. Your guinea pig will always act a little scared, but over time things will get better. It is just in a guinea pigs nature to be scared.
Continue what your doing. You have to give him/her time. Its like a rat (if you've ever had one) they need time to trust you, stop hiding and be "potty trained". I would give him/her floor time without anywhere to hide. Because if you do, they will want to hide, and will be harder to break them from that habit, maybe even try holding him more. If NONE of this works, consider getting him a companion. Hope this helps!=)
Guinea pigs are not accustomed to being held. Their natural tendency is to hide. I hope you were not expecting a loving animal to sit in your lap because for that you need a cat.
first, get another guinea pig because that might help . second, he needs to get used to you so feed him out of the hand and do alot of floor time
i think william means a small dog
