My rats are 11 months old and are called lola and doray however they don't let me touch them. It just started about 1 month ago when i came back from my holiday for a week
maybe they just dont recognize you. A week can be a long time for rodents.
or maybe u picked up a different smell on your week away.
sounds like they're still young, just give it time.
Hmm ... This is a tough one:)
Somehow, you are going to have to get your rats to trust you again. Have you tried giving them their favourite treats and veggies? If you are putting your arm straight into the cage and stroking them, they will get scared. Try leaving your hand in the cage for five or so minutes, keeping it still. (Rest it along the bottom of the cage or something.) Your rats may come over to sniff your hand and start investigating. If they do, gently move your hand or wiggle your fingers a little. If they run away, try this again. Basically repeat this process until you can gently pat them:) if they don't want to come to your hand at all, you could try putting some tiny slices of their favourite treats into your palm and seeing if they will take them:)

Good luck with your rats. Hope they perk up again soon!: D
I'm not sure why, but to start getting them to trust you again,, go slow don't try and pick them up right away. Put your hand in their cage for a few days, and let them sniff you and get used to your scent. Then start petting them very gently, and feeding them veggies out of your hand. Then if they start warming up to you again, then you might be able to pick them up again!
Sudden aggression or change in behavior in pets is often due to illness. Because rats cannot tell you they are sick they may simply become aggressive when touched or pet. I suggest spending some time observing the dynamic in the cage. If it seems like one rat is the aggressor and the other is simply fighting back, you know who is causing the problem. Take the aggressor to the vet. I wouldn't be too worried but this will tell you if the aggression is a social or medical thing. If the vet thinks nothing is wrong, I suggest re-socializing your rats. Check out my sources for a small article on "How To Socialize Your Pet Rat". Good luck post to let us know what happens.
Perhaps because they have this gene in them that is wild and therefore they don't like human contact?
