My sister got two hamsters from a friend, they're different color so I'm not sure if they're from the same parents. They got along fine for a couple of days and even slept next to each other. There was occasional play fights, I assume, but there was no blood so I thought it was fine. Then this morning, my sister woke up because the hamsters were squeaking and found them fighting. She separated them and later I tested again to see if they'll fight again and they did. One is smaller and I assume it squeaked. Do I have to separate them permanently?
They're so cute! ^. ^ But anyways, they're both Syrian hamsters, and you shouldn't ever have more than one in a cage, because they are very territorial. Only dwarf hamsters can live together. When Syrian hamsters are babies, you can also keep them together, but those don't look like babies ... It doesn't matter what gender they are, you should never keep two Syrian hamsters together. You should separate them permanently, because or else they could kill each other. Hope I helped!:)
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com By the way did I mention that they're really cute?:) Where did your sister's friend get them from?
Did she get them at the same time? Because my sister got a hamster once and she wanted to get another one about 6 weeks later and they told her she couldn't because the first one would be terotrial and it would kill the other one. i would suggest seperating them if they continue fighting and one seems like its hurt.
Hamsters can behave oddly . I had some that used to eat their babies, fight eachother and sleep on top of eachother. If it gets bad you may have to separate them or risk having one really hurt the other.
seperate them now. hamsters dont play fight . they'll eventually kill or really hurt each other. they're very territorial animals.
they are probably both males. they will fight each other if they get close enough.
