I have a silky guinea pig, so naturally, he has long fur. It curls up nicely on his sides but around his bottom is where it gets matted and peed upon. I do put him in some water to trim up the mats and clean up the fur on the bottom but he HATES getting brushed. He cries and whines the entire time and hops away. I'm curious if I just need to keep on brushing him so it won't hurt him and the little tangles come out or if there's a different method I can go about doing.
Advice?
Try giving him a lukewarm bath after you rinse the shampoo out use some conditioner on his bottom side then dry & brush him and see if that helps with the tangles every time he needs to be brushed just shampoo & condition his bottom that way it will not be painful for him ... hope this helps .... tink82
did you try a toothbrush? its good to get them used to being brushed when they're babies.
