ok, i have a guinea pig. tell me all about what i have to do for it? and what are some quality cages cheap? thanks!
keep the bowl full with food, trim the nails when they grow (if they grow ), make sure their teeth do not get too long, keep them warmer in the winter and cool in the summer, keep them watered, make sure they have a clean cage, look out for sickness, give it hay ... there are a lot of things to do for it!
Quality cages will be cages large enough for a full piggy to run around in and play, height is not necessary great for them because they really do not climb. More floor space is what they need. Plenty of places to hide also. There are starter kits out there that has everything you will need for a week or so (bedding runs out first).
Find a pet store that you like and go in and pick the pet care associates about guinea pig care. I know when I am at work I love talking about them.
If you keep only one guinea pig, he will become depressed. It would have smarter for you to research this first!

You will need to get a bedding for the cage. I use shavings but do not use pine or cedar. Shavings are cheap and absorbent. I use Timothy hay.Remove any wet shavings daily and replace with fresh and once a week clean out the whole cage and replace all the bedding. Buy a cage cleaning spray from the pet store.
You also need a small fence outside for your guinea pig to run around in, guinea pigs need there exercise to. And no matter what evr put them in a rolling ball because piggies are not hampsters and there legs are very brittle.
Also it is important that you know you still have to bathe your guinea pig.The only soaps you can use are baby shampoo or special made guinea pig shampoo. And NEVER use a hair dryer on a wet guinea pig, you have to wrap it in a towel and hold it until it dries.

Feeding guinea pigs is pretty easy. You do need to buy them pellets with added treats (dried fruits) but you can also buy them fresh fruit and veggies or its even better if you have a garden. NEVER feed your pig Potatoes or Raw beans, these are poisonous, and other bad foods are iceberg lettuce, all varieties of cabbage and cauliflower. Good foods are apples, banana's kiwis and the list goes on for miles.

Pity you did not do the research before you got one. You would have found out that you cannot just keep one guinea pig. They are social animals and need to live with a friend of the same gender. You must get another one or your guinea pig will be very lonely and can become depressed.

You will need to get a bed for each guinea pig and some ceramic bowls, a water bottle and a hay rack to keep hay fresh and clean. They love tunnels and like to play in wood cabins which is good as they can also grind their teeth against them.
You need to feed your guinea pig on a diet of unlimited Timothy hay and water, they need a complete nugget food and two vegetables a day. Never feed guinea pigs iceburg lettuce. Here is a list of suitable vegeables:
