I want a pet I can hold. I was thinking about mice because I already had a Syrian hamster and I might want to try something new. Please don't say rats cos I don't have the space.
Most mice are extremely nervous and many will bite. Some will tame up, but they will always be instinctively nervous.
I have several mice, and they vary in personality. I have one that doesn't even flinch when I pick her up, and will just sit in my hand and kind of lounge around. I also have another mouse who is nervous when I pick her up, but as long as I approach her slowly, she's fine; and once she's on my hand she loves to run about, take treats, and be gently stoked.
At first they were very skittish, but both have warmed up to me in their own ways. I got mice because I didn't have the space for rats, and I don't regret it. They're very sweet.
Also, I recommend female mice, because male mice have a much much stronger odor.
(The only time I've ever been bitten is when I was restraining one of my mice to medicate her, and I don't really blame her on that one, the antibiotics taste horrible!)
When my mice were old enough to be held, the runt would let me hold him, but his brother wouldn't. So one day I held him, but didn't put him down even when he bit me. I held him so he wouldn't be able to wiggle his way out of my hands, and I held him there until he completely calmed down. Even since then, he'll always let me hold him, and won't bite me at all.
No mice don't like to be held.
yes, get a happy one
