Do dwarf hamsters hibernate?

I have one hamster in one cage and it seems like her feeding habits have started to change. I will give her a bowl full of food and she will empty it out in one day. Is this normal, or is something wrong with her? If she is hibernating what should I do to make sure she'll be OK? Please give me any information I need to know about this!!! Thank you!: D

PS I have also noticed that she seems to be up more in the day than she used to be.
While Syrian hamsters are easily affected by temperatures dipping past about 57 degrees F and go torpid at around 41 degrees F (Different sites suggest different torpid temperature, but the result is the same.) Dwarf hamsters are not known to do this. Torpor is a temporary hibernating state in which the metabolism slows down to conserve energy, Dwarf hamsters originate from geographical areas with very cold temperature; thus, evolution has taught them to adapt. Extreme temperatures in either direction, though, are not good for any hamster. For a detailed explanation, please see the following link:

Hamsters are crepuscular. This means they are primarily active at twilight hours: dawn and dusk. They do, however, exhibit some nocturnal activities, but first and foremost they are crepuscular. The following two links explain:

Dumping the food out is normal behavior. Our Syrian, NoraNora, does this, too. They push out all the food to make it easier to scavenge through it to pick out the choice pieces. They will then go and stockpile the food for later consumption . For a detailed interpretation of your dwarf hamster's behavior, please see the following link:

You have nothing to worry about. Your hamster is fine. All the best to you both.
Hamsters don't really hibernate, they do something similar to it by going into a long deep sleep temporarily called torpor.

I doubt anything is wrong with her, maybe she's just hungry or bored.

And your hamster will only fall into this sleep if she's too cold.

DO NOT ENCOURAGE IT.

She could die or starve to death.
She's most likely taking the food and hiding it, and keeping some of it in her cheek pouches. They don't know when they're going to eat next to they hide it to keep it safe as opposed to out in the open where it can easily be stolen.
Most hamsters take food and hide it somewhere. Probably all or most hoard their food. Hamsters usually don't hybernate unless its too cold so make shure she has enough bed fluff! And like humans, sometimes we sleep more or less depending on how tired we are:] dont worry, if you think its cold give her more bed fluff and she should be fine?
