Is my guinea pig ok or sick?
Today I noticed that my guinea pig is breathing weirdly, like you can hear him breathing. I'm scared because I heard if a guinea pig is sick and is not treated in less than 12 hours, they can die. Should I take him to the vet, or is he ok? PS: A hour before right now, he was fine and he was just laying in his cage, relaxing. There is no other bad stuff happening to him, he is just acting the same as usual, then my dad held him for a while, then my dad came and said my guinea pig was breathing weird. Help please!
No need to panic. If you are that worried, then you should take him to the vet.
But, if the guinea pig shows no sign of discomfort , he should be fine.
What my have happened is he has food stuck in his throat. Get him to drink water to wash it down, if this is the case.
no need to panic
take him to the vet to be on the safe side
He could possibly have an upper respiratory problem. Your guinea pig has a delicate respiratory system that may leave him prone to respiratory problems or pneumonia. Signs of respiratory problems include breathing difficulties, wheezing, bloody or crusty discharge from the nose, and loss of appetite. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact a vet immediately and get your pet checked out. problems could be caused by unsafe bedding. Which you should problem remove if you use ceder shavings, cat litter, corncob, or straw.
