Why are guinea pigs ment to an inside animal?
if they were in the wild they would not have a house to live in so y do people put them inside
( if u live somewere cold i get it but y do u have to if u dont live some were cold) and one time i when to the vet for my guinea pigs teeth and he sed to NEVER feed ur GP's pellets its bad for them they should mainly live on grass cuz if they were wild thats wat they would eat and if u say u can leave ur guinea pigs out side, i was fighting with this gay American about it she\he was saying that i can not leave them out side cuz some shitty reason
thanks

answer: we had guinea pigs and the all lived outside quite happily, the had a warm house to go in and an open part as well, and they lived to be 8 yrs old with no drama's at all. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

um you would keep it inside fo many reasons but there isn't anything wrong with keeping them outside.
1 its a pet just like people keep dogs and cats inside their homes
2 there can be dangers out side such as wild animals
3 like you already said the cold. guinea pigs are from warm climates so they shouldn't be out in cold weather

Domestic guinea pigs can not be found in the wild, there is a breed called Cuy who do live in the wild, they are much larger and raised for food in some countries.
Even the most experienced guinea pig owner feeds their guinea pigs pellets because they have the vitamins and minerals guinea pigs need to survive. It would be almost impossible to provide guinea pigs with enough fresh food to provide everything they need.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Guinea pigs do not grow a thick coat like a rabbit or dog can so they can freeze to death faster and when caged there is no way to get out of the heat so they can die of heat stroke. In the "wild" they live in abandoned tunnels to keep warm/cool.
Maybe you should do a bit of research before you start calling people names.
http://www.guinealynx.info/diet.htmlhttp://www.cavyspirit.com/care.htm Guinea pigs have been domesticated for so long they don't even exist in the wild anymore. They are not "made" (for lack of a better word) to live outside. When they are housed outside you are risking their lives.
EDIT: Its not just about cold weather. If it gets too hot they can die of heat stroke. They can get killed by a wild animal or stolen. They can get diseases and parasites. They also get less attention outside. How can you even enjoy an animal when you banish them outside? pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
EDIT: You cannot guarantee weather. If it gets too hot or too cold just one day they can die. What about bugs and predators? You cannot predator and bug proof a hutch. Predators include people too. There are sick people out there that have fun torturing animals and a guinea pig in an outdoor hutch is easy for them to get.
EDIT: So far you have gotten lucky. People have the same attitude as you have and then they go outside one day to find their guinea pigs missing or dead. And again, how do you enjoy them then they are outside. My guinea pigs are ni my room and they run to the front of the cage and wheek whenever I walk into my room. I can just take them out of their cage and put them on my bed and they watch tv with me. You cannot do that when they are housed outside. You cannot monitor them as well either. When guinea pigs get sick they can get sick fast. I go into my room all the time and I always check on them. If thery were outside they could be sick and I wouldnt even know it until it was too late. There is no reason to house them outside. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
EDIT: Do you really think a fence will keep bugs, birds and people out? And what about snakes?
Ok so in the wild guinea pigs don't live as long as they could as a well taken care of pet. Guinea pigs can get heat stroke even if it does not seem that hot to you it is diffrent for a tiny pig. The main cases of death for a guinea pig that lives outside are wether related. The cold could give a guinea pig chills and make them sick. That means more vet bills. I am not sure how the econamy is in astrelia (sorry if i miss spelled that) but in america it is crazy so the less money you spend the better. Also if you treat your yard with some bug killer or somthing you must stop. And some plants can be very harmful to pigs. I suggers keep a C&C cage inside and take the pigs outside for floor time which should be a daily thing. Please remember that pigs are NOT outside animals and if you can keep them inside you should not keep them at all. Also your vet may not be a small pet vet that specializes in rodents. I suggest a diet of timothy hay pellets (1/8 a cup per pig), fruits and veggies every day, and unlimated timothy hay and water. This is the key to a healthy diet for pigs. Please take all advise and not just the advise you want to hear. That deffeats the purpose of a question. Also people will take you more sereosly is you fix your language because there are some words and comments that are insulting to amirica and are rude in genral
