so sometimes when i hold my rats they lay and they start chirping. it kinda sounds like a hic-up :) its cute but i wanna know why they do it.
oh yeah i asked this once but i guess i didnt give a good exlanation. so my second question was how much to feed them?
yes i know EVERYDAY obviously but i wanna know HOW much and HOW often. for example: feed them 2 cups of food 20 times a day.

I don't know the reason why rats make that noise in general, but my rats do it when they're not happy. One of my rats is really lazy and sometimes if I try to get her out of bed when she doesn't want to, she will start doing the chirp hiccup thing. My other rats haven't done it since I first got them, so I'm not totally sure, but if you haven't had them for long that might be why they could be nervous, or maybe yours do it when they're happy.

There really isn't a set amount of how much to feed them, you have to experiment a little. I only feed my rats once a day, but I give them enough to last the whole day. All rats are different sizes and eat different amounts, so you have to figure it out. Just feed them what you know will be enough, and if there is a lot left over the next time you go to feed them, decrease the amount until you find the right amount. They won't eat everything you give them at once, they only eat when they're hungry.
