My hamster in a coma?!?! help!?
hi, my hamster was fine until a few minutes later my mom came in and asked me why he was layed out so funny, he's stretched out, he normally sleeps in a ball in a corner, he's not in his corner either....it looks as though he's sleeping but i blew on him (which he usually jumps if you do) and nothing, i pet his head, and nothing, we kept touching him moving his body around a bit...and nothing...but HE'S BREATHING! and it doesnt look like strained breaths either, it looks like normal breathing....i cant go anywhere cus the roads are icy...can hamsters go into comas??
Hi,
Yes they can, but he might just be sleeping funny. If it's too dangerous tonight., you should bring him to the vet in the morning if he doesn't seem normal. Just like with any animal we keep as our buddies, you want to take good care of him and that includes going to the vet. Good luck!
Yeah they can my hamster hit her head on a glass bowl and she was out for a few hours and after that she lived 2 more yrs just call a vet and tell them whats goin on and see if there is anythin u can do.. Good luck
That happened to my hamster and it died two days later. I have no idea how it happened. 2 hours ago I was giving it food, I come back and its was in the same state you described :(
During cold weather, or in very cold rooms, hamsters may fall into a coma, similar to the hibernation sleep, sometimes appearing as if they are dead. If transferred very gently to a warm place, they may wake, although half an hour or longer may elapse before normal functions return. Do not try to revive them by any other means and (if you can) contact your veterinary for surgery immediately.

Good luck little Ms. Some of these things can happen to the best of us.

Personal experience...
Aww... poor little guy:( I feel for you:) If he doesn't wake up in about 1-2 hours you should take him to the vet.
Hope he feels better
