and i don't know what i can feed it in the winter! it seems they only eat insects and worms but i don't know what i can find for it... my cat almost got to it and it's still in shock so i want to get something to get him going again... what (that i might have in my house) can i get for this mole? he's very tiny, probably a little older than being a baby, and i see no signs of other moles being around.

Moles tend to eat constantly because they cannot store energy (fat). He might have a chance outside if he lives out there (might've stored food or other such) but if not he will eat crickets from a pet store and possibly meal worms/wax worms... See a bait store or a pet store... may not be a good idea to keep him as a pet and you might want to let him go during the spring if you decide to keep him during the winter. short term might be fine but you should keep him away form loud noises. Erm...

If you plan on keeping him you should give him a box with lots of bedding so he can burrow and a water bottle... make sure he's drinking other wise he wont do so well... anyhow they are blind and all. ^_^ You can see the websites if you have more questions.

Are you sure he is a mole? Moles eyes and ears are hidden and they have very long front claws. Voles which are a little similar have visible eyes and ears and look a little like a mouse without a tail or a very short tail.

In either case the poor thing was probably brought in by the cat and dropped in your room before you found it. If it is not doing well then it is already injured and is probably dying. You can put it in a safe dark covered box with small air holes with some worms or bugs to eat if it is a mole or greens if it is a vole.

Turn a light on at night and catch as many moths as possible.... if you can't find any feed it cat food
