We got her a couple of days ago but was told by the pet shop owner she was a boy, and she has been in a cage with the male hamsters from her littler since she was separated and then with my male hamster for a day. Anyway i double checked the sex when i got home and she is definitely female! I've never had a female hamster before and don't know how to tell if she could already be pregnant as she was with males for quite some time. She is a little large around the middle, is making multiple nests and won't sleep in the same one consecutively, drinking an immense amount of water and keeps itching her sides. She doesn't like to be handled and if you go near her sides she nips you.
If anyones had any experience with this any advice would be great (she's in a seperate cage now that i know she is female)

so now she has a lovely litter of what used to be 9-long story short, there are 5 now. (shouldn't have handled her! If she is preg. don't touch her !
to check, give her lots of food but only in one area like the middle of the cage. See if she goes to it and stores a lot in her cheeks. simple, and efficient!
then give her shredded tissue paper and see if she stores that too.
and if she does, then congrats!!

When you brought her home did she lay back against the hamster wheel and smoke a cigarette? Try putting in your search box ''female hamsters /reproductive phase,organs'' or something like that.

she would be fat so you shouldn't touch her stomach too much or it could effect the babies health
