Just bought a hamster today? (2 questions)?
I've had hamsters in the past so i'm pretty sure I know how to take care of them. I'm just a little concerned about the one I bought today. So far since i put her in her new cage she's just tried to find a way out...and then later she slept for a few hours. I haven't seen her eat or drink anything. Do you think she will do this at night when she wakes up?

Also I was wondering what I should name her? She's a teddy bear hamster. I'll attach a pic.

answer:
She is VERY cute.

I got my first hamster two moths ago and she did the same thing for about a week and a half. Once yours get used to its cage, Im sure It'll be happy in its home. I know that's what Hershey (my hamster) did. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Ive had a hamster for two months now
Very cute!!!!
Well when I got my degu off kijiji they weren't use being in a in cage and a new environment. So they would try to get out very often. You might want to stay up for a little while just to see what she does during the night. But, remember she may not stop for a while because Hamsters are nocturnal.

For the name it depends on the personality. For example if she was hiper or silly you could name her Sally.

wow what a lovely hamster,
maybe you should name it something after the colour of its fur :)

hamsters need atleast 2 days to get used to their new homes so they will search about for things and do unusual things at this time.
she will eat and drink when she needs to, hamsters are nocturnal animals so she will most probably do this at night. dont forget hamsters take food into their "homes" so she will probably eat up there aswell.

i hope this helps.
Name it Fwire ^_^ Looks like a cute ball of fuzzy-wuzzy fire! Wuzzy + Fire = FWIRE =D

As for the weird behaviour, if you got it from Petco, Petsmart, or other chain pet stores, It goes through absolute torture. Behind closed doors, at distributors, everywhere, the animals, go through hell. Visit http://www.petsmartcruelty.com/ for more info. It is really sad =(

Anyways, it may just be scared from past experiences, you arent supposed to play with your hammy for a couple days, it has to get adjusted. Treat it with extensive love, and let the poor guy know you aren't there to hurt him. He is loved now :)

Good luck!
Well first your hamster is probaly sleeping and not eating or drinking that much because it still has to get more use to the cage so what for about 12 to 24 hours for it to get use to the cage and you should that your hamster of what your heart desires to name your teddy bear hamster P.S. those are such cute hamster!!!! :)
First off, cutest hamster EVER! I have a Black Bear hamster and he did the same thing, so don't worry. Also if it ever starts to chew on the cage bars, give it a dog treat and it will instantly stop. TRUST ME, that's what I did... I don't even have a dog. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

My hamster experience, hamster names on Google
Very cute. It could be that she was trying to escape because she's just not used to her new home. She should eventually find the water bottle and food supply.

As for names, that all depends on what you like and what her personality is.
Hamsters are must active at night and they'll usually eat and drink water during night after they work out and stuff :) you should name your hamster pancake :D

i luv hamsters =)
Your hamster will be fine, she just needs to get to know her home a bit better.
Trust me if she's actually hungry/thirsty, she can smell it, and go to the food or water. So don't worry about her not knowing what it is or not finding it. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
It's her first night so, she might be a little confused on where she is and in what environment she lives in but don't worry... give her some time. By tomorrow she'll already get used to her new home.
