I have found my gerbil on many occasions now cold and lifeless in her cage.?
She seems as though she might die. I know if i leave her be she will die. She had a sister that died previously. I take my gerbil and hold her in a heating pad for about ten minutes and then she is warm and full of life again. I haven't made any changes to her bedding or diet. Does anybody have an idea whats going on. How long will my gerbil last this way.
take em to the vet. only dragons sleep cold an dead. and maybe pandas.
uhhh it's possible she's dead and you're heating her up so she's warm...
Hibernation? Low temperatures will cause them to reach hibernating state. THats why when you raise the temperature up, hes fully awake
I agree, it's probably hibernation. Just provide her with plenty of bedding & if you wish, put her cage on a bit of light or maybe a heating pad around it. That might wake her up but be careful about it if you keep her in an aquarium.
She could be going into hibernation. This is caused by drops in temperatures and can also be caused by lack of food and water. Just like bears and squirrels, hamsters and gerbils can go into hibernation. It's a means of surviving. They shut down a lot of their bodily functions and slow down their metabolism, and it can sometimes be dangerous.

Also, if her sister recently died, she could still be grieving. Gerbils can get really attached to each other. The link I posted is about hamsters but it could probably still be helpful to you, also.
