Hamster possibly pregnant and home made hamster food?
Okay well I know this sounds bad but my hamster food busted in the floor and now I have nothing to feed her. I just got her the other day (literaly) and she kinda looks like she might be pregneat. So I have three questions. What can I feed her out of my fridge or in the cabinet until I can go to the store tomorow? And what does a pregneat hamster look like? What are the signs? Please help me I don't no anything about taking care of a pregnant hamster please help :(
answer: You can feed her plain cereals like total, special K and cheerios. Wheat bread. Cooked chicken and hard boiled eggs. Nuts (no almonds) and seeds. Fruits and veggies.
Where did you get her? If you got her from a pet store she is more than likely pregnant. Pet stores house males and females together. You need to start to do lots of research on hamster pregnancies. You can ask questions here.

http://hamsterhideout.com/forum/index.ph… You can feed her cereals and wheat bread.
You can tell she is pregnant by her belly.
If her belly is fat and hard, than she is pregnant.
You can also know because a few days before birth she will start storing food in a hiding place an making a bed. If you have one of those plastic houses for them they might build it in there.
P.S.
If she is pregnant don't touch any of her babies she might eat them if she thinks the were contaminated.

Well it depends on where you got her. Petsmart and Petco only sell one gender at a time but mistakes happen.
Feed her high protein foods such as plain tofu, a plain hard boiled egg with less than half of the yolk, and also lots of fresh foods such as broccoli, carrots and plain unsweetened yogurt. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
A pregnant hamster builds a large nest, and looks pear shaped near the end of her pregnancy.
Make sure you are housing your hamster in a setup with 360+ square inches (as seen in a 20 gallon LONG tank with a wire mesh lid) so your hamster is comfortable.
