three days ago i bought a dumbo rat from the store. i was going to get a fancy baby rat, but this one, at five months old, needed a home. since im not using wood chips anymore, i use fleece for the flooring in my cage. this means the rats have to be litter trained. i have some idea how, but i need more help. she poops all over. also, is their any things i should now about dumbo rats? and im planning to get 1 or 2 more friends for her as soon as they have another litter. can i get fancy rats or do they have to be dumbos cause that one was the only oner theyve ever had.thanks

Litter training
It takeS hard work but can be achieved i own 13 rats and all are now litter trained. For their litter ITself i used the safe wood chip cause absorbs the pee and makes less smelly.
aLL YOU need to do it pick every piece of poo and place it in the litter takes time but generally they are very smart and will pick it up. Do it whilst there younger makes it easier.

im sorry to say but it is really HARD to potty train. I tried it for like a moth over the summer and it needs constant lookout all day and night to see whaere it does its bissiness. But, mostly what it is is evrytime she goes in the litter box give her a treat or let her outside the cage. The thing is she could go in the litter box at anytime at anytime of day. Also (this may seem kinda gross) but take her bussinness and put it in the litter box cuz them her scent is in there and she will go in ther.
i have a dumbo rat and a fancy rat but they did fight and got to violent so i had to seperate them so dont get fancy rats with your dumbo rat to litter train him put a plastic box attached to the cage and put something like cat litter in it rats are very smart and clean so they will probly pick up on this soon just be patient to help show him what to do put some of his poo in the litter box then when ever he goes in the litter box reward him with different snacks and say good boy or girl
