My guinea, which I got on friday shakes his head around very fast and frequently. Then will begin to slightly scratch.I am pretty sure it is not lice, or fungus. But i am not sure! Help, WHAT IS THIS? PLEASE HELP , FREAKING OUT!
Its going to be ok! Just take a breath! Your guinea pig may have ear mites or an ear infection. Take it to the vet. You can also check for any bedding in its ear. They do like to push their heads down into their bedding to move it around to make a nest. I have owned several guinea pigs and I had a couple that did the the same thing only for a couple days but it was accompanied by jumping and running which means they are happy. Check the ears and call your vet. Most vets are capable of looking!
This definitely sounds vet urgent. I highly suggest you take your piggy to get examined ASAP.
This type of behavior has been known to be ear mites or ear infections, both of which can lead to death if it's not taken care of.
Don't let your poor little guinea pig suffer, go to the vet and get a diagnosis before you buy any medication. Like humans to anti-biotics, if an animal is being treated with medicine it doesn't need, it can make things worse.

Good luck!
T freak out. They burrow their heads so it could be cage material, it could even be a bug. On a more serious note, it could be an ear infection but you can pick up certain products to help you with that
When Guinea Pigs Shake, It means that they are happy. I Have a guinea pig aswell and i got scared when he first started it and i took him to te vet and thats whet i found out.
It sounds as though he has an ear infection. Check his ears. Please get him to a vet as soon as possible; head shaking is not generally normal in guinea pigs and although rare, ear infections can spread to the brain if left untreated.
my guinea pig used to do that to i think it might have some wood shavings in it's ear or its just itchy.
thats my guess.
check inside both its ears. If theyrs nothing there, look up the symtomny online and see if you can find anything there. If ya get nothing, take his 2 the vet. good luck! aww poor guinea pig
