I got her 3 weeks or so ago. I changed her food and water everyday. Longest I ever didn't was at least 48 hrs. On sunday when I came home, she had a big hump on her back. She didn't have it when I left on Saturday. She seemed fine. Last night she was walking around. Now, she's lying on her side, stiff at times. She's breathing deeply and sometimes it looks like she's screaming and she stretches her arms and legs out. What do I do. I don't know the age either
Hamsters carry around food in pouches at the sides of their mouth. A lot of the time it looks like two big lumps or just one. If the hump is right on top of its back then that's not from storing food. They are also nocturnal, so it will sleep a lot during the day. This might be why you saw the hamster walking around at night, but not later. I had a hamster and it always looked like it was screaming when it stretched, but that's just natural. If you got your dwarf hamster from a pet store it probably isn't that old. Dwarf Hamsters live anywhere from 1.5 years to 3 years. Some have even lived 4 years. So age is probably not the problem. If you feed your hamster and then a couple hours later you notice all the food gone, then it is probably just storing it in it's mouth. If it stops eating and drinking is when it becomes a more serious problem . You might try calling the place you bought if from to see if they have any suggestions if the problem gets worse. Some vets also work with smaller animals such as hamsters.

it sounds like she is dying the same thing happened with my Pet Rat.
One minute he was fine next he was breathing deeply and acting like yours is.
It was too late to get him to the Vet he passed away in like a hour of getting these symptoms
He was bout a year and half so it could of been due to her age.
I advise to just keep her warm in a towel or something and cuddle her to the end.
Sorry: (
im guessing it is dyeing. Because when my hampster died she stop eating and got really really skinny. And would just lay in her little bed. And then about a week later she dyed. But your hampster might not be dyingg. if she is eating and drinking water then she might be fine. but if she is not your just gonna have to hang in there with her. and wait till she is in a better place.
CALL AND TAKE HER TO YOUR VET NOW!!
This would definitely be considered an EMERGENCY! If your vet says you should put her down it would be kindest to do so. You can bury her in your backyard and make a stone for her with the kits they have at craft stores. I know exactly what your going through as I recently lost my hamster. RIP Pookie!! Mommy misses you!
