My mum has finally caved in and let me get a hamster!
I'm looking at cages and have found two suitable for a syrian hamster. One is single story, and one is tiered. The single is about 18 inches wide, which is a nice size and comes with a house, bottle and wheel. The teired is a base, with two platforms of different hights, and this comes with a wheel, house, and bottle.
Which one will be better? They are both nice.: L
Also it will be my first hamster, so any tips?:)
oh and are both sex's good to get?

So glad your mum has let you have a hamster! You have a lot of loving cuddles to look forward to!
Now, I suggest you get the two-tier cage, as they can choose where to have their bed (Usually up high), and enjoy going up and down levels. So definately the two-tier one:)
I would suggest getting a boy, their balls aren't all that big, and they are much more laid back. Some girls are aggresive, and I would never get another girl!
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Tips .. Humm .. Don't use really smelly pine shavings because it can hurt the hammies lungs. Don't get more than one syrian hamster in one cage. Refresh the water at least once every 3 days, don't give them too many veggies as they'll get diareah. And be patient. It shouldn't bite you unless it's really scared, which you should be able to tell. Don't feed it through the bars, it encourages biting. Make sure the wheel has vaseline rubbed in the middle of it (You can take them apart), it will make the wheel smoother and your hammy will enjoy running in it more .. put a corner tray in, they're actually really tidy. Mine would get up every morning and go to his toilet for a wee (And i didn't even toilet train him, he did it himself!). That's all I can think of for now:)

Get a Bar cage. They can easily escape all Super Pets Plastic cages. I know. I have a syrian and he has escaped 6. Ps never use the wheel they give you. Buy a new one and put it in because the center part of the wheel sticks out to far for syrians and hurts their backs. But this wheel instead
