Well sugar used to be the only 1 to do this but now spice has too. They run around purring but its like they are on a rampage! What does it mean and is it unusual?
Depending on the circumstances, the noise you are describing is similar to what guinea pigs make when they are "rumblestrutting" which can either be an assertion of dominance or one of them is in heat.
However, the scenario you're describing sounds exactly like they're just playing:) My two females run rapidly around in circles through their cage and tunnels chasing each other and "giggling" at each other as I like to call it.
Neither one will hurt the other unless they bump into each other. They can run fast, huh?
They could be bumping noses aswell but I believe that is what they do to decide who gets to chase the other piggy, in this situation.
Have fun and watch! It's very cute, I think you have two happy piggies
Sounds as though they are just having a bit of annoyance with each other.

My two brother piggies do this occasionally usually if one is intruding into the other ones space or if one wants to be alone and doesn't want to play. They also chunter when the phone rings or if someone knocks the door - nothing to worry about .
When my girls do that it means one of them is in heat. They only act like that when one of them is in heat but since that happens every 16 days you will see it quite often.
guinea pigs usually do that when they are affaid of something.
