Congratulations! You have obviously taken very good care of Poppy. She is an old gal and that is probably why she doesn't want to play as much as she once did. Eight is not common and it is longer than most guinea pigs live but you often hear of guinea pigs making it to nine and a very few beyond. The good news is that once a pig makes it past 7 or so, its odds of living a really long life are pretty high .

Our pigs like to have a shelf that is about 5 "high in their cage so that they can scoot under it like a house or hop up on it to get a good view of what is going on. A big pipe elbow (6" or bigger in diameter) is another toy/hiding spot that they like.

If the odor of her droppings has changes, that can be a sign of problems if you haven't changed her diet. Cabbage family vegetables can cause this so you might want to cut back on cabbage, kale, broccoli, mustard greens etc. If you are feeding them. If she has always been a stinky pig than you've nothing to worry about.

Guinea pigs require vitamin C because they cannot produce it on their own like rabbits and other animals. Therefore, vitamin-fortified food is always required and a vitamin supplement is recommended during growth and stress.

Baby pigs are weaned and ready to leave their parents at four weeks of age.
Wow 8 years old and alone? That is HIGHLY unusual in both aspects. But congrats nonetheless you are a good mommy:) Guinea Pigs love cardboard box hideys and paper bags. Or if you made her a C & C cage recently and have extra coroplast make a house out of that, I did that for my 3 girls.
Try the towel trick with her, usually they will not pop in the towel.Go to my You Tube site and view the Towel Trick.

Wrap her in a towel and lie her on your chest while you are watching TV, reading a book or listening to music, guinea pigs love music.Set her in your lap while you are on the computer, my Miya loves the sound of the keyboard and purrs to it. Carry her about the house as you do your day, guinea pigs adore doing your day with you. Talk to her softly and pet the towel thus you are petting her thorough the towel. This should give her all kinds of time with you and she can hold her urine and poo for about 20 minutes in the begging but will learn to work up to much longer.

Guinea pigs have been recorded to live as long as 14 years, 8 is a great age, it says you have done a bang up job of guinea pig parenting, congratulations.
A guinea pig can live to 10 years old or older, but more commonly younger. So you guinea pig is a senior citizen.

If she seems healthy and happy, then she is healthy, but do keep in mind that some animals hide their pain or wounds because in the wild, injured animals are easy prey. It is best to get her a companion, though because guinea pigs are herd animals.

You can use cardboard house (but they will get chewed on) or you could make a tent by nailing a towel on the wall, then letting it drape in the cage like a tent. You can use tunnels out of things like cardboard rolls (as long as they will not get your guinea pig stuck). Put crinkly paper in a pillow case, guinea pigs love the crinkly sound!

Guinea pigs are not as playful as other animals, but they are great cuddle buddies. You can pet her, cuddle her. You can also teach her tricks (but since she is a bit old she may not catch on as fast).

You can not do much about the pooping problem, unless you want to litter-train her. It is hard to litter-train a guinea pig, especially if they are old. Also keep in mind that when an animal because a senior, they can have bladder problems like humans too.
Congratulations of Poppy living to be eight. That is very old for a guinea pig. You must have done a great job. There is no way of knowing how long she has left. She sounds very happy and healthy so who could say. You could get a cardboard box and cut a hole in it for her to go in and out. Guinea pigs love tunnels so you could get her a tunnel for her to go in and out of. You cannot play games with a guinea pig. You just let them play alone and hold them giving them affection. I am very suprised her poops smell. This should not be the case. Is it her poop that smells or the bedding? Make sure you remove any soiled bedding daily and clean the cage once a week. If her actual poops smell you need to take her to a vet as she may have an infection.
