Would it be bad to use tanalised wood?
I know you're not supposed to burn it so im guessing its not a good idea for rats to chew on it ..
Do not use wood for a rat cage, I have had to many chew their way through and escape.
I like to use metal bars or gauge meshing.
I don't know about wood, but when I make cages, I use plastic ones, cut big holes in the sides for ventilation, and then hot glue wire mesh to cover the sides. Use make sure you have pretty strong mesh that they can't chew off, and make sure they have enough ventilation.
