Local pet store has female albino gerbil nobody
wants to buy. None others to choose from.
Week after week pinkie sits unsold unwanted
and unloved. $ 6.95
Yes, I've had one. He was called Crisp and lovely, he lived just under 4 years. As another poster have said, pink eyes have less good eyesight - but it doesn't make a huge difference.
And just to caution you, that if you already have gerbils you CANNOT introduce them without a splitcage - without one they would be killed. You also can only introduce 1 to 1 or 2 to 2 and its best to only have a pair of girls, as they are more likely to declan in later life. If you did want to splitcage, there is information here
http ://www.crittery.co.uk/geb_splitcage. ... If you get her and have to keep her solo, then just make sure she keeps lots of attention and enrichment from you, including a decent sized tank with at least 6 inches of a good substrate to burrow in. Nothing pine or cedar based, or sawdust as these can cause serious breathing difficulties. Something like megazorb, bedexcel, or finacard would be good and if you alternate with layers of hay she'll make some truly impressive tunnels!
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I'm sure she would make you a lovely pet if you chose her.
There's nothing wrong with an albino gerbils. My experience of two albino dogs, the downside is they cannot hear or are extremely hard of hearing. It's just something about albinos that's somewhat sad.
You should use caution when introducing it to other gerbils, though.
They might see the difference between each other and attack the weakest/weird one (to them).
Otherwise, she should be just fine.:)
