I have two pet rats that I am unable to take care of anymore. I don't want to give them up, but it will be better for them. I asked friends if they would be able to take them, but so far nobody can . Does anyone know an organization or shelter type place that would take rats?
Thanks
Just check with any local shelters or rescues in your area. Some are equipted to take animals other than cats and dogs, and some aren't. It's just a matter of calling to find out.
You could try things like Craigslist .. But beware: it is easy to not know the intentions of the person you'd be giving them too. Chances are, they could ever just be used as snake food. So I would stick a rehoming fee on them, and maybe make a short list of questions for anyone who answers.
Good luck with this.
I would Google rescues and breeders that take in rescues in your area. Another good idea is craigslist and like the poster above me make sure that the person does not intend to use them for food. To the person that says to dump them in a field you are stupid, cruel, and inhumane! There is no way a domesticated rat could survive in the wild. They wouldn't have the same instincts as the wild ones and would get eaten or die of not knowing how to thrive in the wild. I don't care what your hamster did, your hamster wouldn't survive outdoors either! BIG difference!
I would try craigslist in your area. It really is a great way to give pets a new life. Or a local shelter. Do not bring them to a petshop. They will not be sold as pets, only as feeders to large snakes.
Craigslist. Make sure they won't be used as pet food though. And don't "dump them in a field." They are domesticated animals and will not make it.
My house.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com At 6pm tomorrow? Thanks!!
Put an ad in the newpaper or on craigslist. If all else fails, dump them in a field. They could survive trust me, my completely retarded hamster survived 10 days without food or water in my house.
