Just today I noticed my one female fancy mouse has a tumor. She's about a year old now. I've heard that this is common in mice ... I don't think it's a mammary tumor though; it's on her hind leg. It's about the size of a grape. Should I consider surgery? When do I know it's time to put her to sleep?
there is never an expiration date on living things. it depends on how much your willing to put into it such as going really far like surgery. it could be a cyst were all they need to do is drain it and its good ... sometimes putting to sleep is a good option if you know the work is far more than the good of the outcome. take her to the vet and check it out ... it never hurts to ask. good luck with your little one
Vets wont be able to remove this, mice are way to small to perform an operation like this on.
Also, they size of a grape!?
I'd consider getting her put to sleep, you've got to be cruel to be kind. Its going to be causing her a lot of discomfort right now at such a side.
The size of a grape? That pretty big . I suggest not letting her try to live as long as she can, but u know she is prabably in alot of pain. So i suggest putting her down and making sure she isnt in any pain anymore.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Vets cant remove such a big tumor on such a small animal.
Awwwwww !!!!! I feel so bad for you! Right now my rat has a tumor and it is on her front leg and we are trying to get surgery but i am not sure if we can You might just have to put her to sleep.
Good luck! I feel really, really, really, really bad for you! :(:(:(
Talk to your vet about what to do because none of the people on here are vets. Your vet will know what to do better than anybody on here. thats what i did when my hamster had a tumor, they removed it for her and she is still living happily. talk to your vet, really. yahoo answers is not the place for this.
I had the same problem. My mouse was also a year old when she started growing her tumor. It doesn't really hurt them, but it disables them. I finally put her to sleep when she started getting to the point where she couldn't move anymore.
Its your call!
Good luck!
I am sorry to hear about your mouse. My son rat-Pat-(she was five) had a tumor and she pass a six months later most vets would probably suggest you put the mouse to sleep.
