How long until I can hold my hamster?

She is a Robo hamster and at Petco they told me one week, is this true?
The reason that it is best to wait is b/c it gives the animal a chance to get used to the new environment. It is highly stressful when an animal is moved to a new location. The week wait gives them the chance to get used to the stress of the new environment, without having to deal with the added stress of having someone touching, grabbing, holding, etc. them.

Wait the week, and then slowly begin introducing her being handled. You can begin now by sleeping with a old piece of flannel (no other fabric, as they fray), and allowing her to get used to your scent.
Never leave hamsters alone by themself!

If you have one hamster never leave them alone for a certain time, they could get bored easily.

Since its a robo i do not recommend you playing with it because they are very hard to catch.

You can hold just hold over cage or somewhere she can not escape.

Build a relationship with her, be her friend, someone she can trust.

Since shes new, let her get used to her environment, make her feel like at home.

Spoil her, x]

You can hold her now.

but if you want to wait, you can.

Just keep her company by talking to her softly [:

goodluck!
It's true. Moving environments is extremely stressful. Holding a hammie right after is stressful too, for the don't get handled alot in pet stores. All this stress can cause wet tail, a deadly illness. Let him settle in for about 5 days and then start to socialize. Hoped this helped! This was simple, short, and informative;)
yes this is true because they need to get used to their cage and all the strange noises before you hold them I had a robo and I held it the first day but since I did that it never got used to me then I got another and I waited and he was easier to handle him. I hope this helped; D
