How do i make my hamster get used to me and like me?

I bought my white winter hamster (male) - bam bam. About 2 weeks ago, and at the store when i held him he was all ok, and let me hold him and everything, now he freaks out and jumps to the other side of the cage when i try to grab him, i put my hand in the cage sometimes and let him smell me, and pet him in the cage but nothing works and i just wanna have playtime with my hamster: (and all he can really do it latch on and nibble, not bite, but i dont want to scare him too that point ... what can i do??
put a treat in your hand, if he has a ball put him in that and then take him out, but please jsut rember new hamsters are babies and there excited lil fellas. and when they get a couple months older they will calm down more. so dont think he'll be excited and stuff forever (:
he might be nervous bout his surroundings but my gerbil just liked to run around the cage i would always have to chase him around the cage lol i think he thought it was a game cause he was fine when i got him out lol animals are funny i would try putting your hand in the cage with a treat (you have to have patience!! and an arm that doesn't go to sleep helps to) he might stay away from it for awhile but he should come over sniff the treat and if is a good one like a raisin or sunflower he should eat it then sniff your hand for more then you can either coax him on to your hand with another treat or slowly move your hand under him and pick him up that way; D hope this helps
open the door and put a treat on your hand and maybe he might come to you like offer him treats and stuff. I would be scared too if a big hand was coming at me. Yeah i would just open the cage put some food on my hand (put your hand by the opening of the door) and just wait and if he doesn't come to you put some snacks in by the door. to prevent him from nibbling you wash your hands before touch him he would be less tempted to bite you trust me i had 7 hamsters ^ ^ pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

hope this helps:)
