How big is this white thing?

It is very possible that your piggies have a mite or fungal infection - these are unfortunately very common problems in guinea pigs. The symptoms of these conditions, besides scratching and discomfort, include a greasy coat, broken hair shafts, seeping areas, crusty or scabby skin, raised pimples, and areas of hair loss (particularly around the face and feet). As you noticed, in some cases you can see the mites/lice living in the fur (in many cases this looks like dandruff or "white dirt , "as you described).

I am fairly sure that the "small white worms" you are describing internal parasites and NOT worms attracted to the food in the cage. Worms are fairly uncommon in guinea pigs, and a bad infestation can make a guinea pig very ill extremely quickly. You will need to worm your guinea pigs with a special small-animal worming syrup (available, like the products above, over the counter from a vet clinic, and sometimes from a petshop). Guinea pigs should be routinely wormed every three months

Your guinea pig has lice or mites and my guess is it is mites. You need to get it to an exotic vet asap as left untreated this will kill kill your guinea pig. It is not expensive to treat for mites , just the office visit plus the meds which are about $ 22.00. The medication must be given to your guinea pigs weight so you will have to take it back every 2 weeks for a weigh in so they can prefigured the amount for that treatment, there will be no charge for that visit, or at least my vet did not charge for it.
No matter what it is you really should bring him to the vet. Lice can travel to humans. If you want to avoid a big bill, call the vet and if she says to bring him in then do it.

Is your guinea pig scratching himself alot, this could be a sign of lice. Be carefully watching if it's getting better or worse!
You might want to take it to the vet, you don't want to just be guessing about something that could be really serious.
